There's a mouse in my house! Oh my!

For the last month Brad and I have been trying to get rid of the ninja mice that have tried to take over my pantry! I think we finally have beat the little furry fellas. And it hasn't been easy. I am not a fan of the sticky traps but our ninja mice are too smart for the regular traps and the enclosed traps. Desperate times call for desperate measures!

Several days ago I finally caved and told Brad we HAD to get the sticky traps. This has got to end! I had it all planned out. The mouse would get caught I would suck it up and take care of the poor fella with the bb gun and put on my big girl shoes and remove the trap from my house. A few hours after Brad had set a sticky trap next to the stove we caught one. We had also set poison out the night before and when I checked the sticky trap the mouse appeared to be dead. I figured he's far enough back that the dogs can't get him so I will get Lizzi fed and occupied and then take care of business.

Oh boy was I wrong! Turns out the little fella is one amazing actor! Yep that's right he was very much a live and flopping around on that sticky trap. And he flopped himself right to where Callie could get him. Callie is far to good at getting things! She got the mouse before I had a chance to use the bb gun and solve the problem. In the process of Callie sticking her paw towards the mouse to get it she got stuck to the trap... Oh man was that a hoot! Well at the time it was rather freaky! Here is my dog waving her paw with a live mouse stuck to it!

Callie thought that this was all a game at first until I started to panic a little. I wasn't sure how to get the mouse off while it was alive. There was no way I was reaching for a trap with the mouse still moving! Of course earlier in the morning Brad had left for the fire station so I was home alone trying to figure out how to take care of this alone. Brad did answer like my 5th phone call and told me to across the street and have Bob help. Callie didn't want to walk. Well she couldn't really walk with a mouse attached to her. But Bob saved the day! He managed to get the trap unstuck from Callie. Of course in the process of Callie limping across the street she took care of the little mouse. He was no longer wiggling around. Poor guy had almost as traumatic day as we did.

Note to self: Next time you use sticky traps and there's something in it, get rid of it right away! Don't wait for it to come back alive or someone else might take matters in to their own hands or in this case "paws"

New toy

A church friend of ours gave Lizzi some of her son's old toys that he no longer uses. This is one of them! Lizzi loves it! I can't wait for her to get a little bit bigger so I can put the legs on it and she can stand and play. I can't believe how fast my little girl is growing. She is such a joy in my life. And is already keeping me on my toes.

Wedding Bliss

The first stop of our trip to Jackson was at Burger King around 7 am. Lizzi was not really sure at first if she wanted to be a happy smily baby but she came around when we gave her a crown. What princess wouldn't be happy with their own crown? About 5 hours later we made it to Jackson where we quickly, well quickly for me had to get ready so we could go to dinner at Bar J. We had gotten Lizzi the perfect outfit to wear for the dinner. She was darling. It was a little big but that's ok she will grow into it eventually!
Poor Lizzi was a little tired by this point. A 3 am wake up was not on her list of things to do that day. But she was a trooper and was pleasant the whole night.

On Saturday we spent some time in town looking at shops and getting a few things here and there. It was nice to just walk around and be a tourist! After shopping we headed up to the ranch for the wedding. It was so beautiful! When I grow up I want to live in Wyoming near the Tetons! They are amazing!
Lizzi would have been included in this picture but she was sleeping and I wasn't going to disturb her since it was going to probably be the only decent nap she was going to get that day. She was so great at the wedding. She napped during the ceremony and eventually fell asleep while we were at the reception.

All in all it was a great trip and Brad and I are already planning another trip for the 3 of us to go back and this time go up to Yellowstone since I haven't been there either!
Gosh Mom I sure missed out as a kid! We didn't do the travel thing well did we?

Family trip to Mesquite

I have been slacking so much lately! I don't even have an excuse. School just barely started and that's not even taking up much of my time any more since I am a mostly stay at home mom now. Which I love!

At the end of July Brad, Lizzi and I all took a trip to see my old people, or as they refer the themselves Grandma and Toots. My mom flew down from Alaska so we were all together for the weekend. It was lots of fun!
This is Toots only the best grandpa ever! He's a hoot! If you have ever gotten to meet him you know exactly what I am talking about. He is your typical crazy old man but he's so darn cute you can't help but love him!

We were able to get a 4 generation picture with my Grandma and my mom. Not so easy considering my mom decided to up and move off to Alaska. Just because she found her some fisherman fella that wooed her! No hard feelings about my Mom leaving me. Head scratch Mommy!
