Chirstmas is coming!

Oh man am I slacking lately! Not too much has been going on in our neck of the woods... Lizzi will be 10 months on Christmas Eve. I am amazed at how fast time has gone by. It seems like just yesterday Brad and I brought her home and had no clue what we were doing! Brad just turned 22... Today... Um... I really think that is all that is going on.

We live rather boring lives these days. Just work and home with Lizzi enjoying every moment we can with her being little. She is in the process of crawling  forward. Almost there and today she started trying to pull herself up in her crib.

I really think that is all I have to update for us. After Christmas I will have pictures and such. Hopefully lots! Lizzi is going to see Santa next week. I hope she does as well with him as she did with the Easter Bunny.

Family pictures!

The Sunday before Halloween we had family pictures done at the Peace Gardens. It was a lot of fun and they turned out fantastic!!

A little behind!

Ok I am a lot of behind! Well let's see since the zoo we had Halloween. Poor Lizzi was sick for most of it but I was able to get some super cute pictures done before she was sick! Here are just a few of my favorites. The rest are in Facebook. Lizzi also came to work and got decorated by the girls. She wasn't sure about it. Other than Lizzi getting sick we did have a good halloween.

Hi Ho Hi Ho it's off to the zoo we go! Pictures added!

Brad, Lizzi and I decided to take a trip to the zoo. It was lots of fun! I love going to see all the animals. Brad was a little sad because the bear exhibits are under construction and he wasn't able to see the polar bears. Next spring we will be able too! I was super excited to see the giant turtle. He's my favorite. I also really enjoyed seeing the baby elephant. Lizzi seemed to like the monkeys and any cat type animal. She also really enjoyed being out and about. She was passed out before we left the zoo. I will update with pictures as soon as I get them on to my computer.

Baby Food try #2

I got my Baby Bullet exchanged today and finished making squash. I also took a crack at trying to make oatmeal for Lizzi. It worked pretty well. She seemed to really like it! I am not sure who has more fun me making all the food or Lizzi eating it all. She sure does love her big girl food! Well except for bananas. One day she will get there... I hope!

After Lizzi ate her oatmeal she had some juice... Oh man does she love her new cup. Brad and I got her a new cup that has a straw. She took to it better than a bottle. I I can't believe my little girl is growing up so fast.

Baby Food

My mom got me the only the coolest thing EVER!!! for my birthday. The Baby Bullet! Oh yeah! That's right be jealous.... Ok seriously though it's so neat. I was super excited yesterday to finally get to use it. Brad and did our grocery shopping and I got all the stuff I needed to make food for Lizzi for the next few months. Got home and started baking veggies and fruits to go to town with my Baby Bullet. Got the veggies in the batch bowl and it doesn't work! AHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was so not pleased. After calling the Baby Bullet company several times and not getting anywhere I called Target to see what they can do to help me. They are exchanging it for a new one! I had to call several stores to find one in stock that I can exchange tomorrow so that I can finish making baby food! I will update with pictures when I have my new one in hand!

There's a mouse in my house! Oh my!

For the last month Brad and I have been trying to get rid of the ninja mice that have tried to take over my pantry! I think we finally have beat the little furry fellas. And it hasn't been easy. I am not a fan of the sticky traps but our ninja mice are too smart for the regular traps and the enclosed traps. Desperate times call for desperate measures!

Several days ago I finally caved and told Brad we HAD to get the sticky traps. This has got to end! I had it all planned out. The mouse would get caught I would suck it up and take care of the poor fella with the bb gun and put on my big girl shoes and remove the trap from my house. A few hours after Brad had set a sticky trap next to the stove we caught one. We had also set poison out the night before and when I checked the sticky trap the mouse appeared to be dead. I figured he's far enough back that the dogs can't get him so I will get Lizzi fed and occupied and then take care of business.

Oh boy was I wrong! Turns out the little fella is one amazing actor! Yep that's right he was very much a live and flopping around on that sticky trap. And he flopped himself right to where Callie could get him. Callie is far to good at getting things! She got the mouse before I had a chance to use the bb gun and solve the problem. In the process of Callie sticking her paw towards the mouse to get it she got stuck to the trap... Oh man was that a hoot! Well at the time it was rather freaky! Here is my dog waving her paw with a live mouse stuck to it!

Callie thought that this was all a game at first until I started to panic a little. I wasn't sure how to get the mouse off while it was alive. There was no way I was reaching for a trap with the mouse still moving! Of course earlier in the morning Brad had left for the fire station so I was home alone trying to figure out how to take care of this alone. Brad did answer like my 5th phone call and told me to across the street and have Bob help. Callie didn't want to walk. Well she couldn't really walk with a mouse attached to her. But Bob saved the day! He managed to get the trap unstuck from Callie. Of course in the process of Callie limping across the street she took care of the little mouse. He was no longer wiggling around. Poor guy had almost as traumatic day as we did.

Note to self: Next time you use sticky traps and there's something in it, get rid of it right away! Don't wait for it to come back alive or someone else might take matters in to their own hands or in this case "paws"

New toy

A church friend of ours gave Lizzi some of her son's old toys that he no longer uses. This is one of them! Lizzi loves it! I can't wait for her to get a little bit bigger so I can put the legs on it and she can stand and play. I can't believe how fast my little girl is growing. She is such a joy in my life. And is already keeping me on my toes.

Wedding Bliss

The first stop of our trip to Jackson was at Burger King around 7 am. Lizzi was not really sure at first if she wanted to be a happy smily baby but she came around when we gave her a crown. What princess wouldn't be happy with their own crown? About 5 hours later we made it to Jackson where we quickly, well quickly for me had to get ready so we could go to dinner at Bar J. We had gotten Lizzi the perfect outfit to wear for the dinner. She was darling. It was a little big but that's ok she will grow into it eventually!
Poor Lizzi was a little tired by this point. A 3 am wake up was not on her list of things to do that day. But she was a trooper and was pleasant the whole night.

On Saturday we spent some time in town looking at shops and getting a few things here and there. It was nice to just walk around and be a tourist! After shopping we headed up to the ranch for the wedding. It was so beautiful! When I grow up I want to live in Wyoming near the Tetons! They are amazing!
Lizzi would have been included in this picture but she was sleeping and I wasn't going to disturb her since it was going to probably be the only decent nap she was going to get that day. She was so great at the wedding. She napped during the ceremony and eventually fell asleep while we were at the reception.

All in all it was a great trip and Brad and I are already planning another trip for the 3 of us to go back and this time go up to Yellowstone since I haven't been there either!
Gosh Mom I sure missed out as a kid! We didn't do the travel thing well did we?

Family trip to Mesquite

I have been slacking so much lately! I don't even have an excuse. School just barely started and that's not even taking up much of my time any more since I am a mostly stay at home mom now. Which I love!

At the end of July Brad, Lizzi and I all took a trip to see my old people, or as they refer the themselves Grandma and Toots. My mom flew down from Alaska so we were all together for the weekend. It was lots of fun!
This is Toots only the best grandpa ever! He's a hoot! If you have ever gotten to meet him you know exactly what I am talking about. He is your typical crazy old man but he's so darn cute you can't help but love him!

We were able to get a 4 generation picture with my Grandma and my mom. Not so easy considering my mom decided to up and move off to Alaska. Just because she found her some fisherman fella that wooed her! No hard feelings about my Mom leaving me. Head scratch Mommy!

The happenings from the Newman house

I've been a little behind on keeping up with blogging. Having a 4 and a half month old baby keeps me pretty busy! She is really starting to get the hang of eating. She loves apples, peaches pears and sweet potatoes.
Here she is at the ball park watching our cousin Abi' soft ball tournament. That would be left over peaches on her face. She wasn't enjoying them that much that day because it was so hot!

Lizzi went to her first Magna 4th of July parade this year. Too bad it rained. She might have had a better time. But she did get to spend it with Aunt Alex so that made up for some of it!

Lizzi had her first owie earlier this month. A jealous two year old did not like HIS mommy playing with Lizzi so he let her know. Poor thing! It's a good thing she's tough baby!!

Dad decided last weekend we needed to take a drive to Cabela's so we did. While I was picking and trying fudge dad and Lizzi went for a walk and came back with a new toy Lizzi just HAD to have... So dad says! She does seem to love it. Maybe because it makes noise when you squeeze it. She now sleeps with it every night. its her cuddle buddy! Along with her fuzzy blanket.

Father's Day

Brad's first Father's Day was spent at the fire station. So Lizzi and I went down there to see him for a few hours to hang out and have dinner. It was a lot of fun! He works with a great group of guys.
This is Lizzi awed by the hughe trucks daddy gets to "play" with every few days.

She just loves being with her daddy!

Lizzi's first food... RIce Cereal

She did like spit the cereal on her hand and then suck it off her fingers. It was really cute to watch!

Not really sure what to do with the cereal.

Hey this stuff isn't that bad!

We gave Lizzi her first taste of rice cereal this week. She seemed to really like it. Once she got the hang of how to get it off the spoon. For the first half of the bowl most of the cereal ran out of her mouth and she caught it with her hands and she licked it from there. Guess we will wait to work on those table manners!  :)

I can't believe how fast my little girl is growing up. I am just in awe of how wonderful it is being a mom. I can't say enough how blessed I am to finally be a mom!

North Dakota!!

After the long wait and anticipation the day had finally arrived! We are headed on vacation! And for the first time in a long time and a first for Brad and me, a real vacation. Not one that we hop in the car and drive a few hours to reach our destination. We were flying to North Dakota to see Brad's little brother TJ graduate.

Waiting in Denver for our flight to Bismark.

Waiting in Denver for our flight back to Salt Lake. This is right before a major freakout that I am sure had a lot of people concerned with flying with a baby on the plane. Once we were on the plane and moving she was fine!
I was a little nervous to fly with Lizzi. Not that she wouldn't be a good baby but all the STUFF that has to go with! Oh my goodness! I think for a 5 day trip we did really well packing 2 suit cases 2 carry ones (one of which was the diaper bag) a stoller and car seat. Not too bad! Of course I did for get to pack jammies for Lizzi so I had to have Brad's mom take me to Wal-Mart to get some.  There was NO way I was going to be able to fine Wal-Mart let alone my way back home. There's no mountains to let me know which direction I am facing! I don't know how any one can find their way around there!!

This was a nice relaxing trip. I really only had to feed change and put Lizzi down at night. All the other times she was playing with family. She slept great the whole time we were there. Including her dad! Seems like I was the only one who was up. She'd go right back to sleep after her 7am feeding. Dad never even woke up! Lazy fella! What does he think this is a vacation or something?

Playing in mommy's lap one of the few times I actually had her!

Family Photos

A few weeks ago a family friend took an updated family photo and some of Lizzi. They turned out so cute! My favorite one is her with the pink flower.
